Tallgrass Elegy

An herbarium-cum-sculpture, Tallgrass Elegy combines the man-made, plastic-based materials of film with honorably-harvested biospecimens — not just plants but pollen, seeds, and soil — to not only preserve the evanescent Tallgrass Prairie ecosystem but also point to the futility of replication through filmic reanimation.

Materials: 400 ft of 16mm film leader; splicing tape; native prairie flora; mull humus. Site-specific installation with variable dimensions.
