Bio



Julianna Villarosa is a filmmaker, artist-activist, curator, and educator. Her work explores ecology, place, and human relationships with and to the environment. She is a MacDowell Fellow (2023), Iowa Arts Fellow (2018-2019), and Student Academy Awards semi-finalist (2019), and has received grants from the Eye Filmmuseum (2020), the Puffin Foundation (2021), and more. Select features and screenings include Vimeo Staff Picks, The Atlantic, Slamdance Film Festival, Walker Art Center, Orphan Film Symposium, Discovery Channel, and the National Park Service, among others. She holds an MFA in Film & Video Production from the University of Iowa and is now in post-production on her first feature documentary.
