Julianna Villarosa is a scientist-turned-filmmaker, artist-activist, curator, and educator. Her work explores ecology, place, and human-environment relationships. She is a former Iowa Arts Fellow and Student Academy Awards semi-finalist, and has recieved grants from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, the Eye Filmmuseum, and the Puffin Foundation. Select features and screenings include Vimeo Staff Picks, The Atlantic, Slamdance Film Festival, Walker Art Center, Orphan Film Symposium, Discovery Channel, the National Park Service, and more. She recently recieved an MFA in Film & Video Production from the University of Iowa and is now in post-production on her first feature documentary.
