Julianna Villarosa is a scientist-turned-filmmaker, activist, curator, and educator. Her work explores ecology, place, and human-environment relationships. She received her MFA in Film & Video Production at the University of Iowa and her BA from the University of North Carolina. She is an Iowa Arts Fellow (2018), Digital Scholarship & Publishing Studio Fellow (2019), and Student Academy Awards semi-finalist (2019), and has recieved grants from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (2019), the Eye Filmmuseum (2020), and the Puffin Foundation (2021). She is currently in post-production on her first feature documentary, Green Desert.
